Ski touring
Ski touring is a particular discipline. It is physically demanding and gives more than the fleeting thrills of downhill skiing. During the climb you experience a feeling of communion with the mountains as the silence and a sense of calm take over. Starting at 5am might not suit everyone, but the atmosphere of a night start is absolutely worth the trouble. Watching the sun as it rises over the snowscape is an unforgettable experience.
At the end of the day’s excursion you will feel a great sense of achievement, and for the following few days you won’t be able to stop yourself glancing towards your summit…

Ski touring can involve a 2000m ascent taking four or five hours followed by a long descent far from the busy slopes - and even away from the busy off-piste routes, as off-piste nowadays is much more accessible.
On the other hand, ski touring can involve a half hour climb on sealskins to get away from the classic off-piste trails. This doesn’t require such extreme physical endurance, just a good level of fitness.
In brief, anything is possible as I will adapt the itinerary to a person’s abilities, as well as to the weather and snow conditions.
